Muflih Hidayat

Muflih Hidayat is a Mining and Energy Journalist at Discovery Alert, bringing over nine years of experience in journalism, editorial leadership, and strategic communications within the global mining and energy sector. He is also a Strategic Outreach and Partnerships specialist at the Indonesia Mining Services Association (ASPINDO-IMSA), where he leads stakeholder engagement and cross-sector collaboration across Indonesia’s mining ecosystem.

A member of the Association of Indonesian Mining Professionals (PERHAPI) with a specialisation in strategic communications, Muflih is an award-winning journalist recognised across Indonesia’s resources sector. He is the 2025 Champion of Journalism Competition, presented by PT Agincourt Resources (member of the ASTRA Group), and winner of the 2022 Subroto Award in Energy Journalism from Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR). He was also a nominee in the 2022 MIND ID Journalism Competition and a finalist in the 2020 Subroto Awards.

His published work spans eight years as Editor (2019-2025) and Reporter (2017-2019) at TAMBANG Magazine, one of Indonesia’s leading mining and energy publications, where he directed editorial strategy, managed journalist teams, and built strategic relationships with government and industry stakeholders. He has authored and contributed to four books on Indonesia’s mining sector: Grand Strategy Mineral dan Batubara (2021, MEMR), Aksi Hijau di Lingkar Tambang (2019, MEMR), Energi Bersih Di Ladang Tambang (2023, PERHAPI-UNIKARTA), and Asa Keberlanjutan di Bumi Mahakam (2024, PT Multi Harapan Utama).

Muflih has extensive on-site experience across major Indonesian and international mining operations, including PT Bukit Asam, PT Kaltim Prima Coal, PT Antam, PT Timah, and the LGMG heavy machinery facility in China. He has contributed to major industry events including the ASEAN Mining Conference, Minerba Convex, and the Indonesia Minerals Mining Industry Convex.

At Discovery Alert, Muflih produces in-depth analytical coverage of global mining and energy developments, with a focus on ASX-listed resource companies, critical minerals, commodity markets, and energy transition.

He is currently pursuing a Master of Corporate Communication at Paramadina Graduate School of Communication, Jakarta.
